PipaCYCS instrument classes are provided for students who would like to participate in the Chinese symphony orchestra but have not attained the required skill levels on the instruments. They can participate in the instrument classes regardless if they have prior musical experiences.

Three different levels of group lessons are offered for each instrument:

1. Beginning
2. Intermediate
3. Pre-Orchestra

Classes are offered in the form of group lessons and are tailored for beginning to Grade 3 level. The grade level standards are according to the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) Overseas Chinese Instrument Grade Examination. Students who have passed grade 3 exam or have attained skills equivalent or higher than grade 3 are recommended to arrange individual lessons with the music instructor.

Students will also participate in the CYCS Junior Orchestra to gain ensemble experience.
